I wanted to go ahead and blog about my labor and delivery before I forgot the details. On May 16th, I went to the doctor because I was past my due date. Dr. Sullivan sent me to the hospital to be monitored to see if I was contracting any. It turns out that I was having contractions just couldn't feel them. So, Jade and I spent a very long night in Labor and delievery and got absolutely no sleep at all. Dr. Sullivan wanted to induce me at 5:00 a.m. The next morning.
At 5:00 a.m. The nurse started my pitocin. Around 6:30, Sullivan came in and checked me at I was dialated to 2 cm and then he broke my water. He ordered an epidural. The next 40 minutes I was contracting and it was painful but they didn't last long at all. I got my epidural and around 8:30, Sullivan said I was in active labor and dialated to 4 cm. After I got my epidural, I just relaxed, I had had no sleep so I was already tired and hadn't even given birth yet. At 10:30, Dr. Sullivan came in and said I was dialated to 10 cm and completely thinned. So, at 11 I started pushing.
Let me just say that Jade was amazing through everything. I wasn't sure how he'd be because he usually gags over hardly anything. He did great and was very encouraging during the whole thing. I pushed for an hour and at 12:17 p.m. Our little angel, Sawyer Blaine Snyder was born. He is perfect!
I had to have a 3rd degree episiotomy. I had a great pregnancy and labor and delivery, but I will say I had a rough recovery. Of course I was swollen and sore and it took me a good two weeks to actually feel better. Now, its been four weeks and I'm back to myself and my little man is growing like a weed.
I would like to thank my mom for being such a BIG help after Sawyer got here. Jade did good the first couple of days, but it was hard taking care of me and Sawyer so my Mama stepped in and took care of all of us. We have been overwhelmed by all of the love and support from our family and friends. Thanks and we love you all!
